Swords to Plowshares Project - Veterans to Farms
Our goal is to connect war-weary veterans with work on farms, both as healing and as serious vocational training. Real life swords to plowshares!
We are starting off with a summer/fall internship or seasonal employment.
Of course there is always the possibility that a position could become permanent.
Participation in this work gives returning veterans another way to have their voices heard, through the attention of the media for this project. There is a lot of interest and excitement about how this could develop.

Cedar Circle Farm, managed by FNA co-chair Will Allen and partner Kate Duestenberg, is a 50 acre vegetable, berry and flower farm. They sell locally through a farmstand, by CSA (community supported agriculture) subscriptions, and three farmers markets. The vegetables and berries are certified organic. The pay scale is from $10- $12 an hour.
Swanton Berry Farm Produce delivery-person: Load trucks, deliver produce to stores throughout the SF Bay area. 5-6 days per week, April through June; 3-6 days July through September. Some overtime available. Must have clean driving record. $10.00 per hour, plus medical after 3 months, pension, profit-sharing, stock plan, holiday pay.

Northwood Farm
Northwood Farm is a 400 acre certified organic dairy, crop and beef farm owned by Francis, Jim and Rebecca Goodman. We milk 45 cows raise about 80 head of youngstock and grow all our own feed. We also sell beef at the Farmers Market in Madison WI. We can provide private housing, fresh dairy, eggs, meat and your own garden. Salary is negotiable depending on time commitment and experience. Opportunity is available for local College or Vo-Tech enrollment at several nearby sites.

Small coastal organic farm seeking returning veteran/veterans to help w/ this seasons pumpkin patch. Think of it as a working retreat, if you think you maybe interested in farming or just want to get your hands back in the in the land you fought so hard for. What we are offering is a Two week 6 hours a day @ $9.00 an hour place to stay
(We have a motor home we call the guest cottage) we will provide one meal a day, did we mention one of us went to culinary school.
